I been fishing more than 40 years here in Nagano prefecture,Japan.(included B.C. Cabada,South Island NewZealand and U.S.A.) Some peoples ask me about tackles here in Japan. As i grow up on mountain side,I would like to explain about basic fresh water mountain stream Fly fishing tackle here.
The rod i recommend to use is,
Length:around 8ft.It is depend on how tall you are and if you are over 180cm.It can be about 7ft 6in. but normally i recommend around 7ft 11in to 9ft.If you prefer Nymph and/or Wet fly,The rod length can be 10ft single hand rod.
Action is very important so please use slow to mid slow action rod.
Line weight:#3 and or #4.for Japanese Yamame and Iwana.
Leader length:9ft main.6x.
Tippet:7x.8x.9x.10x.11x.and 12x.
Reel:Can be click or disc drag.
